My Testimony: Finding God in the Hardest Moment of My Life

My Testimony: Finding God in the Hardest Moment of My Life

My Testimony - By: Loretta Watt

There are moments that forever shape who we are—and for me, that moment was the tragic loss of my youngest son, Dakoda James Watt.

Walking through this heartbreak was the most difficult journey of my life. And yet, even in the depths of grief, God never left my side. He was with me—guiding my steps, holding my heart, and giving me strength I didn’t know I had.

In this video, I share my full testimony—from the day of the accident to the quiet, painful days that followed. It’s a story of sorrow, yes—but also of hope, faith, and God’s unchanging presence.

“Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”

— Luke 22:42 (KJV)

Even in the hardest moments, I’ve learned to say, “Not my will, but Thine.”

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

— John 3:16 (KJV)

This truth is what carried me: God understands our pain. He knows what it means to lose a Son—and through Him, we have the promise of eternal life.

I also reflect on the beautiful poem The Dash by Linda Ellis, which reminds us that it’s not the dates on our gravestone that matter, but the life we live in between. Dakota’s dash was short, but it was full of love, joy, and light.

I invite you to watch my full story by clicking the YouTube link below. My hope is that it brings comfort and reminds you that even in grief, God is near to the brokenhearted.
